"The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck" follows Jemima, a duck determined to hatch her own eggs against the advice of others. She seeks a secluded nesting place and encounters a charming fox who offers her a shed full of feathers. Suspicions arise when the fox requests herbs for an omelette, and Jemima's story is overheard by a collie. The collie investigates, and the fox is run off by fox-hound puppies, but not before the puppies gobble up all of Jemima's eggs. While she eventually is allowed to hatch her own eggs, only a few ducklings emerge, which she blames on her nerves.
